Adrian to the Sox not Gonzalez, Beltre

The Boston Red Sox have a tentative deal with free-agent Adrian Beltre. The deal is for one year for $10 million. This deal also includes a $5 million player option for 2011. However this doesn't block the Adrian Gonzalez deal totally. If Jed Hoyer GM of the Padres and Theo can come to agreement to move Gonzalez to the Sox Theo might have some deal in mind. I would rather see Gonzalez instead of Beltre. Beltre, a career .270 hitter, only hit 8 home runs with 44 RBI last season. Hopefully Beltres numbers improve after his injury plagued season to his 2004 season where he hit 48 homers. While Gonzalez, a career .281 hitter with 40 homers and 99 RBI last season, would help the Sox a lot. With this deal close to completion, it will be interesting to see what happens with Mike Lowell in the upcoming weeks.

There have been reports Today 1/5/10 that Lowell could be traded to the Mets for infielder Luis Castillo.
